Faq's (frequently asked questions)
ARE BABES IN ARMS ALLOWED IN THE THEATRE?
Babes in arms or children under the age of two (2) are not permitted in the theatre. Children older than two (2) should be able to sit quietly in their own seats throughout a performance. If you are in doubt about bringing a child to any particular production, please ask before buying tickets. Please be aware that if you do bring a young child and that child creates any disturbance, you might be asked to leave the auditorium. Some individual shows may set higher age limits. Parents are reminded, however, that most live, professional theatre- unless specifically advertised as being for children or "for the whole family" - is intended as adult entertainment and may not be enjoyed by, or suitable for, children.
DOES MY CHILD NEED A TICKET? CAN HE/SHE SIT ON MY LAP?
Both the Fire Code and theatre insurance policies require everyone in a live theatre audience, regardless of age, to have an assigned seat and a ticket. This is the case even if the child sits in your lap and not in their assigned seat.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE THEATRE?
There is no formal dress code enforced in our theatre.
BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR/SCENT POLICY
We are committed to ensuring the enjoyment of all patrons. In consideration of those in the audience who may have allergies and chemical sensitivities, please refrain from wearing cologne, perfume or other scented products. If you are experiencing an allergic reaction due to your seating location, please contact the House Manager about the possibility of a relocation.
HOW EARLY MUST I ARRIVE?
We suggest that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the show. Remember to allow time to park your vehicle.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM LATE?
All performances begin promptly as scheduled. Latecomers will be admitted only at a suitable break in the performance.
CAN I LEAVE THE AUDITORIUM AND COME BACK?
If you leave your seat during the performance, we will re-seat you only at a suitable break in the performance.
DO GIFT CERTIFICATES EXPIRE?
Gift Certificates do not have an expiry date and are good for the life of the theatre.
CAN I TAKE PICTURES OF THE SHOW?
No. Cameras, video cameras, cell phones and any other sound or image-recording devices are all strictly forbidden in theatres. If you bring one in and attempt to use it, you may be asked to leave the theatre immediately.
CAN I TEXT OR TWEET DURING THE SHOW?
NO! When the curtain opens, your device must be turned off.
CAN I BRING MY OWN FOOD AND DRINKS?
No. Once upon a time, food and drinks (other than bottled water) were prohibited in the theatre auditorium. However, times are changing and now (for most productions) we do allow snacks and drinks including alcohol in the house but only those purchased at our bar/canteen. If prohibited, there will be signage indicating this at the theatre. The only strictly prohibited items of food and drink are those in glass bottles.
CAN WE COME ON STAGE/BACKSTAGE AFTER THE SHOW AND MEET THE CAST?
That would be lots of fun, but unfortunately, no. Visitors are not permitted backstage; no one not in the cast or crew is permitted on stage. Many people go to the stage door after the show to see and meet cast members - and get autographs - but both the stage and the backstage area are strictly off-limits to anyone not directly involved with the production. This is for reasons of safety (and insurance).
ARE YOUR THEATRES WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE?
Yes, there is wheelchair and assisted seating available in our theatre. This request should be made as soon as the tickets go on sale and you must make this request to the box office when purchasing your tickets as wheelchair seating is limited.
I MUST HAVE AN AISLE SEAT. HOW CAN I BE SURE MY SEAT IS ON AN AISLE?
If you have any specific seating needs, purchase your ticket as soon as they go on sale. However, we cannot guarantee any specific seating will be available.
WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE IT TO THE SHOW? CAN I GET A REFUND OR EXCHANGE MY TICKETS FOR ANOTHER DATE?
Sorry, but the answer is no. Reserved-seat theatre ticket sales are final. There are no refunds. However, if you purchased a ticket to a show that has more than one scheduled showing (such as the farces, musicals, etc) you can exchange your ticket(s) to another date of the same show with a $2.00 ticket exchange fee (per ticket being exchanged). Please note, this does not apply for shows with only one performance. We do not hold credits if you cannot make it to a show for which you have purchased a ticket.
Members are exempt from the ticket exchange fee.
WHAT IF I LOSE MY TICKETS?
If you lose your tickets, please call the box office at 902-742-8150. We cannot always reprint your tickets, but we can issue a seating voucher for you to pick up at the box office. Please note, however, that vouchers and replacement tickets will be issued ONLY to the person who bought the ticket(s) in the first place; if you lose tickets purchased or otherwise acquired from a third party, you must as the original purchaser to make the request.
I'VE ORDERED TICKETS ONLINE. CAN I PRINT THEM ON MY OWN PRINTER?
No. However, keep a copy of your order number and present that to the box office and we will print them for you. Please note, in order to avoid traffic outside the box office, always have your order number ready or you may be asked to step aside from the lineup while you find it to keep traffic flowing.
I'M ORDERING TICKETS ONLINE, CAN YOU MAIL THEM TO A FRIEND OR RELATIVE'S ADDRESS?
No, we cannot. Our box office only has the "Will Call" option, which means they will be held at the box office for you. You can access them by presenting your order number to the box office.
I'M BUYING TICKETS ONLINE. WHY CAN'T I SELECT CERTAIN SEATS AND WHY ARE THEY DIFFERENT COLOURS?
If you are unable to click on a seat to select it, it means that seat is not available. In order to make your online ordering easier, we have colour codes that are used in order to determine what seats are available.
RED SEATS: These seats are already purchased, sorry!
GREY: These seats have already been reserved with a credit card or are being held by the Box Office for specific reasons (wheelchair seating, etc), so you can't have these ones either, sorry! (If you require wheelchair or assisted seating, please contact the box office to make your arrangements).
TEAL: The teal (greenish blue) seats that can appear on your screen means that someone else is buying tickets at the same time as you! They beat you to the punch, and you can't have those seats (unless they expire before they finish the purchase), sorry!
WHITE WITH BLUE OUTLINE: These seats are open!!! Therefore, you can choose from any of these seats to purchase for the performance.
CAN I HOLD SEATS ONLINE AND CALL IN TO THE BOX OFFICE TO PAY?
No. When you block off seats online, the box office is unable to process them until they have expired on your computer, which can range from 15-30 minutes. If using the online ticketing as reference, please refrain from actually selecting the seats unless you plan on purchasing online.
WILL YOU RESERVE SEATS FOR ME BY EMAIL? I WILL PAY WHEN I COLLECT THE TICKETS.
No, sorry. We cannot do this. Tickets must be "held" with a credit card.
CAN I USE MY VISA/MASTERCARD DEBIT OVER THE PHONE TO ORDER TICKETS?
No. In order to order tickets over the phone, you need to have a valid Visa or MasterCard (we do not accept American Express).
I DON'T HAVE A CREDIT CARD. WHERE CAN I BUY TICKETS FOR CASH?
You can make cash/debit payments at our box office.
ARE YOUR PRICES IN U.S. OR CANADIAN DOLLARS?
All of our quoted prices are in Canadian dollars.
ARE THERE TAXES ON TICKETS?
No, there is not. However, there is a service fee on all tickets, for all shows. The fees are as follows: $3.00 for online sales and $2.00 for phone or in-house sales. Please note these fees are per ticket and not per sale.
WHAT ARE THE BEST SEATS?
This question is almost impossible to answer. First, it depends on the show; different set designs can affect the view from different seats- for example, the elevation of the stage, the height of the set, the width of the set. Second, much depends on personal preferences- for example, many people insist on sitting in the first two or three rows - wouldn't dream of sitting anywhere else - while others find the first rows to be too close for comfort (or for a full view of the action). Generally speaking, "though, most people would probably agree that the best stage views in any of the theatres, most of the time, would be those enjoyed from seats (1) nearest the centre, in the front-middle of the lower section; or (2) those nearest the centre in either the first few rows of the upper section. Before buying your seats, have a look at our seating maps. Please note, the stage on our seating maps (and booking online) is always located at the top of the screen or image (also, nearest to the beginning of the alphabet- our first row to the stage is Row B; as the alphabet progresses, the further back in the theatre you are going). Also, when ordering online, please remember the posts are located on the left side of the theatre and are indicated on the seating map with an indent.
DO I HAVE TO BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE, OR CAN I BUY THEM WHEN I COME TO THE THEATRE?
There is no requirement that you purchase advance tickets. You may buy your tickets at the box office as you enter the theatre, but you are gambling that there are still seats available. Many performances can sell out well in advance or you may find that your seating choices are very limited from any remaining seats.
CAN I ASK THE CAST TO SING HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AUNT BETTY?
No, not while there is an audience in the theatre. You may certainly as the cast, crew and front-of-house staff to stay late and perform privately for you, but you will then be responsible for paying them, not to mention renting the theatre. 🙂
I'M GOING TO PROPOSE TO MY GIRLFRIEND (BOYFRIEND, PARTNER, WHOMEVER) AT THE SHOW. WILL YOU MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE STAGE TO MAKE THIS EXTRA SPECIAL?
